Whatever Dr. Ben Carson does, he does best.
- He grew up poor, raised by a single mom who instilled in him the values of faith, education and hard work.
- In 1994, Dr. Carson and his wife Candy established the “Carson Scholars Fund” providing scholarships for promising at-risk students.
- Before he retired earlier this year, he was one of the top pediatric neurosurgeons in the world, pioneering surgery on conjoined twins and other life-saving brain procedures.
- Dr. Carson is the author of several books including his autobiography, “Gifted Hands,” and the current best seller, “America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great.”
What’s a Leftist supposed to do with a guy like this?
He doesn’t fit into the progressive stereotype of what a conservative is: intolerant, uncaring, stupid and shallow. In fact, this soft-spoken doctor turns the left’s ugly narrative on its head by showing, once and for all, that a belief in American Exceptionalism steeped in Judeo-Christian traditions is exactly the prescription to cure our nation’s ills.
At last week’s Values Voter Summit in Washington, Dr. Carson spoke truth to power on the issues of life and liberty. He avoided the hateful rhetoric favored by secular progressives, but minced no words when he called out their hypocrisy and hunger for control.
“Obamacare is the worst thing to happen in this nation since slavery,” he said. “It is slavery, in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government. It was never about health care. It was about control.”
